BALMUN No.1

My note from visiting the BALMUN conference
http://balmun.de

What is sustainable?
Everything under certain conditions.
But I do not really believe we can call anything sustainable, if there are certain conditions which must be fulfilled to achieve sustainability of a certain matter.

Therefore, my definition of sustainability would go along the lines of:

UNSUSTAINABLE is anything, that simply cannot be sustained or that requires a centralized aid to be functional in the long-term development. Unsustainable matters create problems that it may and may not be able to solve itself.

SUSTAINABLE is anything, that can support itself environmentally, politically, economically, socially and that may eventually develop itself to a point, where it will face the same issues as global or local governmental institutions. Sustainable matters solve problems that are existing and apply to those matters, instead of creating further problems.
